TAM
is an inexpensive single line telephone interface used for
dictation. Any touch-tone telephone can be used as a dictation
input device. Files are captured on a PC and organized by
author. The program supports standard record functions including
rewind, append and pause. The application runs on a PC with
a Windows 98 operating system or newer. TAM includes a small
modem-sized hardware device that connects to the PC via
an RS232 cable and to an analog telephone port via an RJ11
jack.

When
an author calls the system he is prompted for a user ID
and optionally for a password. Up to 50 authors may be defined.
Completed files will be archived. Management access security
is optional. Files can be organized into author subfolders.
Optionally,
TAM integrates into the Audacity Audio LAM (Local Audacity
Manager) and/or RAM (Remote Audacity Manager) application
for increased functionality. LAM can be used to encrypt
and compress the files and either e-mail them to a remote
site or FTP them to a server. RAM automatically retrieves
the files from the FTP site decompress and decrypt them,
and prepares them for the transcriptionist. LAM
and RAM also preserve the Customized Field(s) information.
TAM
is also compatible with the Audacity Transcriber.
