The
Remote Audacity Manager, or RAM for
short, is a PC application that performs a variety of file
management functions. The RAM is located on the receiving
side (transcription) and is comparable to the LAM
on the sending side (author). The RAM can be used
to retrieve files from an FTP site or a POP 3 mail server.
Both
the LAM and the RAM perform file management
functions. Both are involved in transporting files and logging
any movement or status change. The LAM sends the
files and the RAM receives them. Normally, files
transported electronically are compressed and encrypted.
The RAM decompresses and / or decrypts them (as needed),
and prepares them for the transcriptionist.
The
Remote Audacity Manager is one of several Intelligent
Dictation applications comprising the Audacity
product family. Products include the Audacity Digital Voice
Recorders, Audacity Transcriber program, and the Audacity
Telephone Access Module. Products may be used individually
or may be combined to form a seamless solution. Audacity
